Starting early is easier and cheaper than catching up in March. Here is how a typical National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher year runs.

- NovemberPrelim revision begins.Past-paper questions by topic. We find out which methods hold up under time pressure.
- December to FebruaryPrelims (mock exams).Dates vary by school. Prelim results often inform the grade your school estimates, so they matter.
- February to MarchLearn from the prelim.We go through the paper line by line and rebuild the topics that lost the most marks.
- April to MayFinal exams.Full timed papers, exam technique and the formulae list. Lessons can move to twice a week.

Your tutor: Dr Saba Qummer
Saba holds a PhD in Mathematics and has published 10 peer-reviewed research papers on cosmology and gravitation. She has seven years' teaching experience at school and university level, including two years in Scottish secondary schools.
That combination matters in lessons. A researcher knows why each method works, so she can explain it a second and third way when the first doesn't land. A classroom teacher knows what the Scottish exams reward and where pupils usually lose marks.

Common questions
How do online maths lessons work?
Lessons run on a video call with a shared digital whiteboard, so you both write on the same page in real time. All you need is a laptop or tablet. A graphics tablet or stylus helps but isn't essential.
Do you only teach pupils in Scotland?
No. Lessons are online, so pupils anywhere in the UK can join. Most pupils are in Scotland because Saba specialises in National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher, but GCSE and IB pupils are welcome too.
What happens in the free assessment?
A 30‑minute video call. Your child works through a few short questions at their level while Saba watches how they reason. Afterwards you receive a written plan of what to work on, whether or not you book lessons.
Is it too late to start before the exam?
It's rarely too late, but earlier is better. Starting by October leaves time to fix gaps properly. From March, lessons focus on the topics worth the most marks and on exam technique.
